The little electric sports car Tesla Roadster has reached its limits. Now, Tesla Motors is investing entirely on the family car Tesla S and SUV Tesla X. The American company Tesla Motors has stopped taking orders on the Tesla Roadster in the U.S., reports the American magazine Wired.

For Europeans and Asians, however, the window opens a few more months. But then it stops for new orders in the sharp, but expensive sports electric car sold in 2500 copies since its launch 2008th.

Tesla Roadster, which in Sweden costs about 1 million, made in England by the car company Lotus has built Tesla's electric power train in its sports car Lotus Elise.

But now Lotus to build on its factory and do not intend to proceed with the Tesla Roadster, writes Wired.

Tesla Roadster was one of the very first pure electric cars on the market when it came 2008th It was a car to bring attention to and Tesla Motors did not make a single advertisement to sell the car. It sold itself - to those who could afford it. Tesla Roadster is a veritable powder packet. Signed reporter himself has driven a Tesla Roadster on the E20 from Stockholm and south.

It accelerates from zero to hundred in 3.9 seconds. The electric motor provides the same 288 horsepower. Torque is that all electric cars extreme and it's just stepping on the gas. No gears. Tesla Roadster is also extreme in electric car connection with his long reach. The battery provides 56 kWh is enough to 35 miles-efficient driving in good weather.

The sleet and cold of the cabin heater on, the scope becomes considerably shorter.

But the Tesla Roadster was never really thought of Scandinavian winters. Tesla Motors has its headquarters in California and there is also the original target group.

Tesla Motors is now investing in their family car Tesla S, which is expected to begin shipping next year. Stands for sedan and that's what it's about - a car for the mass market as opposed to the extreme roadster, which requires an athlete to get in and out.

Tesla S will cost less than half of the Tesla Roadster. In the U.S. there is talk of a price of 57,400 dollars, equivalent to 370 000 Swedish kronor. Tesla Motors expects to produce 5,000 cars next year and 20,000 the following year.

Tesla S will be available in three different versions. The standard provides a range of 26 mil on a batter laddning while the main battery pack provides a range of 48 mil.

The next project will be SUV Tesla X developed in cooperation with Toyota.
