I think we exceeded all expectations with three great prizes. But the greatest reward is still the great attention and feedback we received from the professional jury said team manager and first driver Erik Osvaldsson to New Technology.
The entire team of 14 engineering students from LU Racing is now on his way home after having enjoyed success with a closing party with some other of a total of 37 teams who managed to finish the race.
LUR4 got 200 points out of 200 possible in race engineering design, in stamina (endurance) 315 of 400 possible, in Marketing 78 out of 100 possible points and time through the obstacle course less than a minute, which gave 99 points. 49 teams had registered, including 40 from the United States. Three teams came from Canada, two from India, one from Taiwan, one from Russia, one from Italy and one from Sweden.
The whole twelve teams were dropped in different moments during the four-day race in the United States was underway. Already last year did LUR4-car well in the hybrid class in the annual Formula Student competition at Silverstone in England. But in Formula Student must come up with a new car every year and what happens then to the well-built and stylish LUR4-car? LUR4 team signed up to the Formula Hybrid International Competition in Indy Car racing circuit New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.
The contest is marketed as hybrid-World Cup for student race and sponsored by the American Association for the automotive engineers SAE and the Institute for the electronics and electrical engineers IEEE.
The renovated and repainted LUR4-car, made a press preview on Lockarps
Go-cart-path in Oxie south of Malmo on April 7, packed the car for
transportation by air to New York on 23 April and went on with the team
to prepare for the competitions that went on over four days May 1 to 4 |
