![]() The deal with Chinese Hawtai did not really become clear before it was presented. Now question the Chinese BAIC right to produce 9-3. Saab Automobile is now working with two Chinese car builders - Beijing Automotive Industry BAIC and Hawtai Engine. BAIC has bought the rights to produce the current Saab 9-3 in China while Hawtai has signed a preliminary agreement to become a part owner of Saab and next year begin building Sabbilar in China. But now protesting against BAIC Saab's business with Hawtai.
Senior official at BAIC said Saab and Hawtai married too quickly. We have not had time to react to it yet. If you look at the Saab 9-3 as they plan to manufacture in China, it is likely that the Saab 9-3 model BAIC already bought the Saab, "he told the Shanghai Securities News.
But according to Saab Spyker Chairman Victor Muller BAIC wrong. The 9-3 as Hawtai Motor will manufacture in China is the next generation 9-3, based on an entirely different platform, namely Phoenix. BAIC has no rights to the Phoenix platform, but it has Hawtai, according to Muller. BAIC feel passed over. According to SvD Business BAIC wanted to buy the entire Saab in April this year. Victor Muller confirmed that BAIC was included in the discussions, but according to him, did they never go so far. The reason that BAIC could not buy the Saab was to the Russian banker Vladimir Antonov already was involved and wanted to buy the company.
If BAIC would have bought the entire Saab Automobile, it would also have
taken longer to complete the purchase because of the need various
permits from the Chinese authorities, according to Svenska Dagbladet's
source, which is said to have good insight into the sales process. This was also the reason that BAIC was not included in the final bidding. But that information does not match with Victor Muller's response.
In an email to SvD Naringsliv reporter writes Victor Muller to BAIC not wanted to buy the Saab.
BAIC has purchased the right to produce old Saab 9-5 model, which was
manufactured in 1997 and 2010 and 50 percent of Saab 9-3, which sells
today. The technology is from 2004 and is the technology that GM's previous
owner. The new Phoenix platform is a pure Saab Spyker product. |
