This week will go down in history as a haven for Saab Collectors. Bankruptcy trustees are offered by Saab Museum's entire collection of 123 cars for sale.
There are unique gems, the black lacquered Ursaaben who have been in
Saab's possession since it left the production line in 1946, several
Eric Carlsson on the Roof-cars and the first Saab Sonett as hand-built
in Asaka outside Trollhattan in 1946 with the legendary Rolf Mellde as
project manager.
The 50 best cars are those who now stand in the exhibition hall at the Saab Museum on the old Nohab area in Trollhattan. But in the basement are 73 cars. Some of them do not look like much as it is, but one of the fixer-upper can be the first Saab 99-ball in 1968. It has in all cases the chassis number 1,001th. These include the Saab 93 Monster, the first Saab 96 V4, the Saab 99 Turbo Rally, Saab 900 EV-1 Saab 9000 T16 Talladega, Saab Formula Junior, Saab 9X Concept and the Saab Aero X Concept. Last Friday, January 20th at 12:00 to prospective bidders have submitted their written bid to the bankruptcy trustees, law firms Delphi and Wistrand, acting in Gothenburg. The dedicated website Konkursboet.se you can download the entire 123 pages sized document with pictures and description of all car. What the entire collection could fetch at an auction of this kind can not say for sure. However, there are known Saab Collectors who would probably spend a lot of money to get over the most unique cars. There is speculation that Eric Carlsson himself would gladly seize his two Saab 96 Monte Carlo cars and the Saab 95 station wagon as he previously owned. But it is not certain that the cars will be sold individually at auction, as the receivers now pave the way for. Trollhattan city and technology park Innovatum working for a solution where Saab museum can be preserved as it is and car collection is kept in Trollhattan. Bankruptcy trustees are probably just the formalities that are in a situation like this. It does not change our attitude to want to take over the museum and run the business. This is a matter for negotiation and we have been quite clear, says CEO Innovatum Helmersson to Trollhatte magazine TTELA. |
