![]() X-48B during one of its flights in the Mojave Desert After 80 test flights finish now Boeing and NASA tests with the flying wing X-48B. The plane is a model of a true flying wing, measuring 6.5 feet between wing tips. Operation has been made from the ground by a pilot who followed the plane's movements on a television screen. X-48B Blended Wing Body began to fly in the summer of 2007 and has since conducted 80 flights.
The intention has been to see the shape of airplane fuel is beneficial
from the point of view and in terms of noise. A craft that in appearance
resembles a skate is an ideal form we now believe the scientists at
NASA. ![]() The unmanned plane is a model of the 8.5 percent range.
Project management is now convinced that this type of aircraft can save
30 percent fuel compared to a conventional plan with a tubular body,
wings and tail.
Another scale model will be built, the X-48C, which states could be even quieter than the X-48B.
