 Planes private space station Russian Russian company Energia space veteran at the head to build a private space station in the vicinity of the current ISS. This week presented the proposal on the private space station CSS, commercial space station. Behind the plan are companies Orbital Technologies and RSC Energies, the latter with 40 years experience in satellite and rocket technology for the Russian space program.
Cooperation agreements have been established with the Russian Space
Agency Roscommon, but it opens the door to further private participants
in the project.
The purpose of CSS is to offer an alternative space platform to the International Space Station. On CSS is a potential for scientific and commercial work, but also as a recreational site. Project management of CSS also hopes that the space station will be used as a staging point for further manned missions into space, the moon or Mars. In addition, the CSS could serve as a rescue platform if an accident were to occur on the ISS. The idea is that CSS should be at a distance of 100 km from the ISS. As an exclusive offer for future space tourists would it be possible with a combination trip to the two space stations. CSS is planned for a maximum of seven people at once. Stay periods range from 3 - 14 days, 1-2 months, 4-6 months, or with the combination stays on the ISS. Transport to and from the space station should take place with the Soyuz spacecraft and Progress, but docking facilities will be available for future space vehicles produced in Europe, China and the United States.
