Next year starts a contest in which the airship will fly around the world. The prize in the six-month long race is expected to be 70 million.

For the first time compete airship which has fastest flying around the world. The launch is scheduled for September 23, 2011 when the contestant’s air ships will lift ye the Prime Meridian in Greenwich. Then it's off to Africa and further east. During the race some 40 countries will be crossed before landing in England planned for in March 2012.

But there is not some non-stop flight. The contest is divided into 16 races when air ships must land on a regular basis to include refueling.

The competition called the World Sky Race is an initiative of the American Don Hart Sell in collaboration with Norm Augustine. He was previously CEO of Lockheed and is now chairman of Barack Obama's Experts for NASA, The Wall Street Journal.

The contest is sponsored by UNESCO when the air-ships should fly over a number of UN organizations and recognize their heritage. Among the landmarks to be crossed is the Colosseum in Rome, the Pyramids of Giza, the Taj Mahal, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Statue of Liberty in New York.
