MOSCOW — A failed Russian probe designed to travel to a moon of Mars is expected to fall on Washington DC. The Russia probe will come crashing down within hours, likely in a shower of fragments that survive the fiery re-entry.

The world's largest plane takes rocket into space Print E-mail

Stratolaunch called Microsoft founder Paul Allen's new space projects where the world's largest aircraft lift rockets into space. Paul Allen has been working for years with designer Burt Rutan. Together, they took up Space Ship One, a small spacecraft that starts from an airplane and then get to the edge of space at 100 km altitude.

Now scientists are looking for life on our twin planet. Large radio telescopes in the U.S. will now examine whether there is intelligent life on the newly discovered planet Kepler-22b. Scientists who look for extraterrestrial intelligent life has now been given a specific target to direct their radio telescopes against.

Airbus saving plan delayed Print E-mail

Airbus competitor to Boeing's Dreamliner will be further delayed.  The first delivery period is now set to the first half of the 2014th. Airbus A350 XWB is just as Dreamliner to reduce operating costs for airlines. They get new efficient engines and are built to half of Carbon fiber.  It will reduce energy consumption by 20 percent.

China's space industry takes world leadership Print E-mail

The launch from the Jiuquan near the Gobi desert on September 29 was successful. Tian Gong a "heavenly palace", now revolves around the Earth at 350 kilometers altitude, where it will stay for two years. It is 10.5 meters long and 8.5-ton cylinder, which is shortly to be joined by the unmanned spacecraft Shenzhou 8th  Next year the interconnected modules visited by astronauts in two rounds, Shenzhou 9 and 10. The astronauts will stay on board for up to two weeks.
