Japanese space agency JAXA plans to send a human-like robot to the ISS, which communicates via Twitter.

The robot is in addition to keep the astronauts company also watch over their health. To the earth sends the robot messages and images on micro-blog Twitter. Next week is the sense that NASA will send up space robot Robonaut 2 to the space station. The robot has no lower body.

The Japanese robot will however be built as an android. The idea is that the experience of space stay will be of use in the continuing program to develop medical robots that can take care of the aging Japanese population.

To the newspaper Japan Today says Satoshi Sano at JAXA to the robot through its Twitter feeds will keep the interest of space activities live among the general public even in times when there are Japanese astronauts on the ISS.

Japan has its own module on the space station named Kibo.
