![]() More efficient data processing can make robots for CAD experts on a wide scale. What to do drawings from a finished product called GRE, geometric reverse engineering. An object placed on a turntable, and a robot using a laser scanner to collect a very large number of points which must then be compiled into an intelligible form. The problem is how to automate the process. It must move quickly to deal with measurement data to make the CAD drawings of real objects. Mohamed Rahayem, who earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering at Örebro University, has created a new algorithm that manages the data by comparing the laser profiles and the robot's position. It can provide faster performance than previous systems. - It is the most important contribution in my thesis, for sure. But my work also contributes to the possibility of using industrial robots as measuring instruments, "says Mohamed Rahayem. |
