Implant nanoyta let go of the medicines that strengthen bone.

A nano-coating that strengthens the jawbone provides better traction for artificial teeth. This according to a study of 16 patients in Linkoping.

Strengthen the leg attaches to the implant better.  How a new coating from Linköping company Addbio.

Surface of the implant is coated with a nanometer-thin protein layer. It is covered in turn with a bisphosphonate, a drug long used by patients suffering from osteoporosis.

When the bisphosphonate then released as enhanced bone and the implant is firmly attached.

The technology, for example, provide shorter healing times for people who get new dental implant.

You can start chewing several months earlier. Another advantage is that patients with weaker bones, such as the elderly, smokers and diabetics, the better able to get implants and not have false teeth, said managing director Trine Vikinge.

The method was developed by Per Aspenberg, who is chief physician at University Hospital in Linköping and co-founder of Addbio.

Now he has completed an initial clinical trial in patients with good results. 16 patients received at least two dental implants were. A common and treated with the new surface layer.

After only two months showed x-rays a clear difference and after six months was the treated screw significantly better fixed for 15 of the 16 patients. The study was published in the scientific journal Bone.

Trine Vikinge sees results are important for the company.

We are looking for a partner and this makes us attractive to the international implant companies, she says.

The method is also tested in a clinical trial in patients with worn knees at the hospital in Hassleholm.
