A group of researchers associated with the University of Muenster have shown that the zeolite L crystals can adhere to the bacteria, highlight them and eventually kill them. Doctor Cristian Strassert is one of the researchers.

The researchers are now working on to find ways to bind the particles to specific bacteria, and perhaps even to cancer cells.
- If it works, one could use nano-particles in sunscreens, as the
lights start to combat skin cancer cells, "says Cristian Strassert in a
statement.
