Foxconn wants to buy 1 million robots Print E-mail

The world's largest contract manufacturers in electronics, Foxconn, to replace staff who are 1 million robots.Taiwan's Foxconn, the bulk of its production and staff in China, where it employs one million workers.

Now, says company owner Terry Gou to Xinhua news agency that he wants to reduce the work force and within three years of acquiring 1 million robots to perform simple tasks in painting, welding and assembly.
 
The reason is demanding higher wages from the staff, especially after a series of high-profile suicides in manufacturing plants for a few years ago.  With robots can also increase efficiency, according to Gou.
 
Today, Foxconn approximately 10,000 robots in production, but by next year, the number having been increased to 300,000.
 
At Foxconn mounted cell phones and tablet PCs for a number of international brands such as Apple, Acer, HP, Dell, Nintendo, Nokia and Sony Ericsson.
