Today awarded the first 4G modems to the customers of Telia's waiting list. New technologies have spoken with one of the few who got to test an early version of Ericsson 4g kit with Samsung's modem. "Quickly - but large and power-hungry," he says on the modem.
It's only a hundred people outside TeliaSonera, which has so far been tested 4g modem in Stockholm. New technologies have spoken with one of them.

Since 15 December, the day after TeliaSonera's official "opening" of 4G networks in Stockholm and Oslo, has about a thousand 4g modem tested in Stockholm and Oslo.

Most of them are used by Telia's business customers and other so-called "friendly users".

Nobody who went to Telia's retail stores had no modem, but I imagine the waiting list.

And yet no journalist had to borrow a 4g modem for an evaluation.

"John Doe" has tested

But new technologies have spoken to business users, who are now tested 4g since before Christmas. He is an experienced mobile phone user, but wants to remain anonymous.

We choose to call him John Doe, but can reveal so much that he not work at TeliaSonera.

- It was a bit difficult to get started. So the modem was delivered to us by a person from Telia's VIP support, which installed all the drivers on your computer. But it's always when the modem is a prototype. And Samsung front runner. So it's not so strange, "he told New Technology.

- The modem is also very large, and drain power. It is the size of two matchboxes. But it is clear that there will be less over time.

Impressive speed
John Doe's very impressed with the speed of the network.

- It goes fast. It is almost always 40-50 megabits per second. To download a movie is not a problem. It offers the same experience at home. Or better, if you only have adsl with 8 megabits per second for downlink at home. With 4g modem one can always suddenly 40MB / s.

John Doe and a colleague has tested 4g modem in Kista, Stockholm city center and the south-east of Stockholm.

- And where does it very well. And there are no problems with indoor coverage. I myself have almost only run indoors, "he says.

Better than 3g modem
Response times, what the mobile industry called latency, are John Doe also pleased.

- They feel in all cases faster than 3G modem "he says.

According to Telia's spokesperson Charlotte Zuger shared 4g modems out to first on the waiting list today, Thursday.
