Accurate and competitively neutral index is an important ingredient in long-term contracts that characterize the contracting public transport in Sweden. Previously, fuel index did not include biofuel RME and partners have been referred proprietary solutions that are not reflected the actual cost change. Now, the industry-wide index Council together with Statistics Sweden, SCB, has developed an index for the biofuel RME.
The use of RME as a fuel is very common. RME is a renewable fuel
produced from rapeseed and turnip and reduce global warming by carbon
dioxide absorbed during plant growth. The fuel can be used pure or
lagiblandad in "ordinary" diesel. It affects about 500 buses in Sweden
and a steady increase.
The importance of this new index can not be overstated. Until now, the parties have been referred to the proprietary solutions that are not reflected the true cost of the change in a business-neutral manner. The use of this new fuel index will be an important part of using the society's common resources better and get more traffic for your money, something that is a must to achieve our industry-wide target of doubling public transport, says Anna Gronlund, Federal Director of the Swedish Bus Industry Association. Public transport industry-wide indexrad consists of representatives from the Swedish Bus and Coach Industry Association and the Swedish Public Transport Association and from 2011 also from the Swedish Taxi Association. Index The Council's mission is to ensure commercial neutrality in the set indexing principles. The Council will identify and analyze the cases where the cost changes depending on the tax and fee changes might occur and affect the business neutrality. Index Council works with all matters relating to indexes in the public transport industry. |
