Superconducting cable hones smart grid

“The world’s longest distribution-voltage superconductor cable system utilizing second generation (2G) superconductor wire was energized in Korea Electric Power Company’s (KEPCO) electricity grid in September 2011. The 22.9 kV alternating current (AC) cable uses a cable system from LS Cable & System, a cooling system from Air Liquide and HTS wire from AMSC. Photo courtesy of LS Cable & System.” A new smart grid in Korea will include superconducting cables with ten time’s higher capacity than conventional cables. The manufacturer believes a breakthrough in technology. Superconductive HVDC cables will be used when testing the technology for smart grid in Korean Jeju Island.

New price shock of electricity waiting

Half of the Swedish nuclear reactors are currently still and the risk of a new price shock of electricity is high. The afternoon will cost 63 cents a kilowatt hour of electricity in Oslo. Five of Sweden's ten nuclear power plants are now still - Ringhals 1, 3 Ringhals, Forsmark 2 and Forsmark 3 and Oskarshamn 3.

The world famous British engineering firm Arup, together with the architectural firm Grim Shaw designed a new wind turbine that are several times more powerful than the day and unlike anything else - Aero Generator X.
