Three people have been arrested in the United States after having offered critically ill patients miracle cures with stem cells. A fourth person is wanted by the FBI.

According to the FBI has the illegal activity going on since spring 2007. Those arrested are suspected to have attracted people with severe, incurable illnesses to pay for treatments not approved by the FDA.

The investigation has identified a plot where the suffering and hopes of the victims with extreme medical needs have been used and manipulated for personal gain, says FBI agent Cory Nelson in a statement.

One of those arrested have wrongly claimed to be an American medical license. He should have received patients in Texas in the U.S., and then performed the treatments in Mexico. Another is a midwife and according to the prosecutors has obtained cord blood from patients on their obstetric clinic. The third works at a university and should have used university equipment to produce stem cells from the blood.

The group has argued that it could consider including cancer, ALS, MS and Parkinson's disease. In total, they have received $ 1.5 million from the patients.
