The title Swedish inventor in 2009 went this year to three scientists from Lund. They are rewarded for their new technologies to detect breast cancer in particular by means of MRI.
Anna Sten Herd, Karin and Daniel Bryskhe Topgaard have developed a method whereby the diseased cells such as breast or prostate quicker and easier to detect without a Pap smear is taken.
The trio from Lund received a diploma, statuette and 300 000 SEK from
the Foundation to create an awards at the Technical Fair in Stockholm.
Create winning also Armando Cordova and Jonas Hafren SEK 100 000 for
their method to produce substantially stronger paper by changing the
properties of cellulose.
Such a biosensor gives patients taking blood thinners new opportunities
for themselves, in home care, medication monitoring and to rapidly
adjust drug dosage.
Created development scholarship was awarded this year for the 24th
time. The scholarship is instituted in memory of Alfred Nobel. The aim
is to provide assistance to inventors so they can realize their ideas.
