The image on the new two-dimensional material MXene won the web vote on this year's scientific image. But when an expert jury said there was an equestrian another.
A new nanomaterials are now captured in pictures. The atom-thin layers
are stacked on each other just like slate, but you can only see in the
microscopic world. The material belongs to the family MXene, a new type
of two-dimensional titanium-based materials scientist at
Dexel
university, USA, is working on. According to Babak Anasori, one of the
researchers behind the picture, it fits the material perfect for solar
cells, energy storage, and various types of sensors
The image took part in the great scientific photography competition which every year is organized by the journal Science and the National Science Foundation - NSF. A total of 212 contributions from 33 countries. Ten finalists were selected and placed on the NFS website so that anyone who wanted could vote for their favorite. Most votes received photo of MXene which tricks the price "people's choice". Jury selection were expressed to Bryan Jones at the Moran Eyecenter in Salt Lake City for his photo on the eyeball of a mouse, where 70 different types of cells glow in different colors. |
