An American energy company has conducted successful tests of an underwater turbine. The turbine uses tides to generate electricity and is America's largest power plant that draws its energy from the sea. Although the turbine power output varies with tidal fluctuations so you can convert that energy into a form that enables it to supply the existing power grid. Now the system is fine-tuned before a 150-kilowatt turbine installed at the end of next year. ![]() A major advantage of tidal power over wind and solar power is that tidal currents are very predictable, making it easy to plan production and maintenance. The high density of water also makes it possible to extract a lot of energy even if the flow velocity is low. |
