After 55 hours, and 423 heavy lap around the track in Osaka was the winner of the first marathon race of robots in the goal.
The race had just a handful of participants, but it was still crowded at the start. One runner fell on his face or was possibly pushed by a competitor, but got up with an elegant push up.
The rules were the robots had to travel by its own power. The only permitted aid was a pit stop to replace the battery or servo motors. One participant had to retire as early as the first lap.
The winner, Robovie-PC, broke a surprise loss in the finish, broke the finish line with a one-second lead and bowed to the audience.
The contest was collaboration between the Japanese city of Osaka-ka and Vstone Company, which manufactures robotic kits. The law behind the robots came from Osaka Institute of Technology. The organizers hope to make it to an international competition sport.
While robots are aimed at its circular orbit joined the Tokyo marathon for the people of flesh and blood. The victor, Hailu Mekonnen from Ethiopia, crossed the line in two hours, seven minutes and 35 seconds. There was an average speed of 19.8 kilometers an hour.
Robovie-PC only reached 0.77 km / h. But the robot is on the other hand, only 40 centimeters high and weighs 2.4 kg.
